BTRC Monday published a draft guideline of providing licences to domestic VSAT-HUB operators with a view to increasing internet penetration in rural and urban areas and help bank, insurance, embassies and corporate entities to establish an integrated data circuit. The guideline of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT), has been drafted taking into account the plan of the government to set up a satellite communication system in the country with domestic VSAT-HUB and Remote Terminal (RT).

BTRC closes another ISP

The telecoms regulator on Wednesday shut down Asia Tel Network and is working to cancel the licence of the ISP on charges of carrying out illegal call termination business. A joint team of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Rapid Action Battalion and other agencies raided the office of Asia Tel and found evidence of illegal call termination.
