ABI Research: Smartphone downloads from app stores to peak in 2013

At the moment, most mobile applications for smartphones are downloaded from app stores. According to ABI Research data, last year consumers downloaded some 2.4 billion applications from such stores, which is an impressive figure. What’s more, that number is set to keep growing and peak in 2013 at just below seven billion. As expected, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s AppStore will continue to lead the field.

looks like the iPad 3G is in hot demand, as the “magical” tablet is reportedly sold out in multiple stores.
MacRumors and Bloomberg have been calling around and found numerous Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) stores are sold out of both versions. This news makes you really contemplate if Apple really can make $1 billion from the iPad in this quarter.

Tesco Mobile have just announced a trolleyload (ha ha – pun intended) of cheap new iPhone tariffs, according to TechDigest.
You can get an iPhone 3G 8GB for £100, iPhone 3GS 16GB for £200, and iPhone 3GS 32GB for £275, on a £35/month contract – which only lasts for 12 months!

iPhone vulnerable to hacker attacks – researchers

SECURITY experts have uncovered flaws in Apple’s iPhone that hackers can exploit to take control of the popular device, using the tactic for identity theft and other crimes.
Users need to be warned that their iPhones are not entirely secure and Apple should try to repair the vulnerability as soon as possible, they said at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas, one of the world’s top forums for exchanging information on computer security threats.
