BTRC to cut PSTN licence renewal fee

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Monday agreed to cut the licence renewal fee and performance guarantee by 50 per cent to help the services of Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) expand their services, officials said. BTRC also agreed to cut spectrum charge and roll out target by half to improve the business activities of the PSTN operators across the country. Steps to cut down the charges were taken at a meeting held between leaders of the Association of PSTN Operators of Bangladesh (APOB) and BTRC officials at the latter’s office.

BTRC to expand PSTN services

The Bangladesh Telecomm-unication Regulatory Commission has decided to expand the public switch telephone network services in the country. The BTRC took the decision at a meeting with leaders of the PSTN operators of Bangladesh in Dhaka on Monday with vice chairman of the commission Hasan Mahmud Delwar in the chair.

Sunman Group takes over Tele Barta

Sunman Group, a leading conglomerate of the country, has acquired Tele Barta Ltd, a private nationwide public switched telephone network (PSTN) operator.  A signing ceremony for taking over Tele Barta Ltd. was held recently at the Board Room of Dhaka Bank Ltd. Six banks/NBFIs comprising the syndication lenders to Tele Barta under the lead arrangement of Dhaka Bank Ltd took part in the signing ceremony, said a press release issued by Dhaka Bank.
