Samsung, which continues to lead the U.S. market in terms of mobile phones provided – high and low end – has recently announced that it sold over 1 million Galaxy S devices to date. That’s not too bad when you consider the Android 2.1 devices being available only on AT&T and T-Mobile so far, with the Captivate and Vibrant smartphones, respectively. On August 31, the Samsung Epic 4G for Sprint will launch with the Fascinate for Verizon not too far behind, rounding off the set of Galaxy S handsets for the major carriers in the U.S.

The Samsung Cetus (I917) is inching closer to launch as we caught the device getting an FCC approval. The smartphone which is slated to be the Korean company’s first Windows Phone 7
device comes with a 3G radio that sings along 850/1900MHz 3G frequency, meaning it’s heading to AT&T and Canada’s Rogers. Of course, we’ve no idea when Samsung and/or AT&T will announce the phone, but we do hope that will happen before the end of the third quarter.
Samsung Intensity II (SCH-U460) heading to Verizon

A new, still unannounced Samsung phone has been caught in the wild – Samsung Intensity II (SCH-U460). We don’t have all the details, but we do know the basics.
France’s Samsung Galaxy S to get the Android 2.2 update in September

We have one good and one bad news to share with our French readers ownin’ the Samsung Galaxy S. The good news is that the Korean company hasn’t forgotten you – you will be getting the Android 2.2 updated. The bad news is that you’ll have to wait for September to grab it.
Cincinnati Bell adds Samsung Behold II

Let’s face it, Cincinnati Bell isn’t exactly known as a high-end smartphone carrier. To be fair, we’ve heard rumors the MOTOROI could hit the operator’s offering and it’s also worth noting they were the first company in the U.S. to offer the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
Samsung Captivate

This spring, Samsung introduced the first of its Galaxy S phones, Android powerhouses to rival the HTC EVO 4G, the various Droids (both Motorola’s and HTC’s), and of course, the iPhone 4. AT&T’s version of the Galaxy S, the Samsung Captivate ($200 with a two-year contract, as of July 12, 2010), is by far AT&T’s best Android offering. But Samsung’s TouchWiz interface isn’t for everybody, and in my tests the phone was a bit sluggish at times. On top of that, AT&T is at it again with its blocking of third-party Android apps.
Samsung Galaxy S to launch in 110 countries at the same time

The Super AMOLED power-house Android phone, known as the Samsung Galaxy S is said to be launching in 110 different countries at the same time. That’s quite the wide release, but if anyone has the logistical know-how to pull off a massive global launch of this scale, Samsung can surely do it.
Samsung Guru 1175 announced for India

In a move that won’t surprise anyone, Samsung announced yet another entry-level device for the ever-growing Indian mobile market. It’s the Guru 1175 and the Korean company wants Rs. 1,690 (about $37) for an unlocked device — though we’ve also seen MobileStore selling it for Rs. 1,459 (around $32) for the same phone. Go figure…
Samsung Bada SDK now available for everyone

Samsung has officially opened the floodgates, or so they hope so. The Korean company has made the Bada OS SDK available for everyone, not just for select partners which were able to play with it since January.
Still in beta (version 1.0.0b2), the SDK is jam packed with APIs, UI builder, documentation and an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that rocks simulator, debugger, code samples and so on.
Low-end Samsung Stride hits U.S. Cellular

U.S. Cellular has another low-end device in its offering – Samsung Stride. The clamshell-shaped phone won’t impress many with its feature set, but will provide the basic texting and calling features for those who don’t need much more anyway. Plus, there’s a 1.3-megapixel camera for taking occasional shots and the ability to access the carrier’s EasyEdge services to download various mobile content — including games, ringtones and wallpapers.
