Rugged Motorola Quantico lands on MetroPCS

MetroPCS (NYSE: PCS) will be adding (in Q4) a new rugged handset in its offering – the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Quantico, which BTW is already available on other smaller carrier – US Cellular. The mil-spec 810F compliance that’s included in-box means Moto’s baby can resist water dunks, heat and dust, all while providing users with a 3G connectivity (EV-DO) over 800 and 1900 MHz frequencies. Rest of the specs (aside from the mentioned 3G radio) includes a low-end 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity support, GPS and a microSD memory card slot.
In a nutshell, nothing too exciting, except in case you’re looking for a super dependable yet kinda dumb-ish clamshell. Otherwise, keep looking…
Motorola Droid Steals BlackBerry’s Limelight

Motorola’s upcoming Droid smartphone is grabbing plenty of attention–so much attention, in fact, that news of two new BlackBerry devices is getting lost in the shuffle. In recent weeks, Research In Motion announced two new smartphones, the revamped BlackBerry Storm 2, and the Bold 9700. Both are impressive phones in their own right, but neither is garnering the buzz that surrounds the Motorola Droid.
Motorola working on a low-end WX series?

Motorola (NYSE: MOT) seems to be working on a new low-end series, marked “WX.” We’re talking about very basic stuff here which includes tiny screens, GSM/GPRS (maybe EDGE?) connectivity, VGA or no camera at all, optional Bluetooth, minimal or no internal storage, and so on. That said, these will most likely hit the emerging markets of the world where potential customers will be able to grab them for around $20. For the time being, we’ve heard that the WX395 model is as basic as you can get that includes nothing but GPRS data along with a mentioned small screen. As soon as we hear something new, we’ll write about it, or not – depending on the news cycle. Stay tuned, nonetheless.
Motorola unveils first Google Android mobile phone

MOTOROLA has unveiled on the first of many mobile phones to be developed in partnership with Google.
The phone, which uses Google’s Android software, has a slide-out mini-keyboard and a five megapixel camera.
Known as the “Dext” worldwide – or “Cliq” in the US – it’s the first Motorola phone to run Google’s Android software, and could be the phone company’s last big hope to regain market share.
Motorola Morrison Spotted Running Android

The last time we saw the Motorola Morrison, we only had a blank screen, but here we are with another bit of eye candy showing the Android OS in action. It looks like a vanilla Android build, but who knows what custom work Motorola (NYSE: MOT) will do before the purported ‘09 holiday release. This particular shot gives us a closer look at some of the soft keys, but there are definitely a few missing… It’s hard to tell if that squarish one on the left side is supposed to be a Call key or a Menu key, but maybe it’ll double as both with a long press. Proper specs remain scarce, but we’ll be keeping our eyes open for more details on the Morrison.

Motorola W7 spotted in the wild, hated for its uglyness
The upcoming Motorola W7 has been spotted in the wild. As you can see from the image above, there’s not much to look forward to. We’re talking about an entry-level device, which boasts a 2 megapixel camera, EDGE connectivity, media player and, we guess, some memory expansion slot. Moreover, there’s that oblong d-pad that further emphasizes the device’s fugly lines. Read more
Motorola’s iPhone-like QA4 Evoke a good sign for Motorola?
Motorola’s official announcement of the Motorola QA4 Evoke touchscreen slider may not have generated the hype (positive, or negative) that Motorola (NYSE: MOT) was hoping for, but there’s more to the Evoke than meets the eye. The Motorola QA4 Evoke may just represent the shift in design philosophy that Motorola needs to make a comeback. And make no mistake, Motorola needs a comeback. The Motorola QA4 Evoke sports some fairly decent features. It’s no smartphone, but with its iPhone-like widgets, a touchscreen display and full-HTML browser, the Evoke is certainly a refreshing change of direction from Motorola’s handset designers.
