SPB Shell 3D offers a sexy new Android UI, for a price

We thought that it couldn’t get much better than ADW Launcher EX and its slick 3D transitions, but SPB Shell 3D may possibly be the best home replacement app for Android if you’re looking for a lot of eye candy.
AT&T may be forced to divest select assets in T-Mobile deal

AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson confirmed that AT&T may be forced to divest customers and wireless spectrum in its bid to acquire T-Mobile USA. This admission does not come as a surprise as mergers involving two major wireless companies would require some form of divestiture. Verizon Wireless had to concede select assets when it purchased Alltel and AT&T had to divest a limited number of markets when it acquired Centennial Wireless. Ironically in these two divestitures, Verizon bought a chunk of AT&T’s divested Centennial assets and AT&T was the highest bidder on some of Verizon’s divested Alltel assets.
No, BlackBerry Messenger is Not Coming to iPhone April 26

There’s a rumour floating around that RIM’s co-CEO Jim Balsillie spoke in Toronto yesterday and announced that BlackBerry Messenger and “other services” would be coming to iPhone
on April 26, followed-up with a new notification system for BBM on iOS in the summer. The fact that the rumour originated from some random dude on a forum without any corroboration should have been enough to dissuade anyone from blogging about it, but I guess the previous rumours of BBM on iPhone had set something of a precedent and enough of a hook to get folks posting. I just pinged RIM, and they said Jim Balsillie didn’t speak at any event in Toronto this week, effectively smashing this rumour.
Verizon drops the DROID Incredible to make way for the Incredible 2

Verizon Wireless
is reportedly clearing the inventory of its DROID Incredible handset. The once coveted Android handset is no longer available online and stores are supposedly selling their remaining supply of Incredible handsets. The end-of-life for the original Incredible is not surprising as the handset is slated to be replaced by the Incredible 2. The next generation Incredible handset is a CDMA variant of the Incredible S and will launch without the familiar DROID branding. It is rumored to debut on Verizon Wireless starting April 28th.

Although it still lacks some basic features, Windows Phone 7 is steadily approaching the capabilities of the incumbent platforms. Obviously Microsoft
doesn’t want to miss NFC boat and in that sense we were not surprised to learn they will be integrating contactless payments in their mobile platform in the near future.

Sprint is against AT&T acquiring T-Mobile, like everyone else

During CTIA 2011 in Orlando, Florida last week, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse really showed his colors by taking solid jabs at each of the other carriers during a CEO round table moderated by Jim Cramer. And during Sprint’s unveiling of the EVO 3D, Hesse quipped that the other carriers have “faux-G” rather than actual 4G. It was pretty hilarious. But Sprint also made it clear that the other big news, AT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile, was not good for the industry and consumers.

German Privacy Advocate Wrestles 35,000 Points of Location Data from T-Mobile

German Green party member and privacy advocate Malte Spitz wanted to see just how much data T-Mobile Germany was storing about him, so he went after T-Mobile, and after a legal back-and-forth, received 35,831 points of location information spanning as far back as six months (a time period mandated by local law).
