Thanks to the good ol’ FCC, we know a new phone is heading to MetroPCS (NYSE: PCS). It’s the ZTE E520 which won’t impress many with its feature set. We’re talking about a low-end candybar that’s good enough for texting in calling. It comes with a tri-band CDMA radio, and we guess Bluetooth connectivity, some media playback capability, and the ability to sing along some of the carrier’s services such as MetroWeb.

LG has launched two new Android and Snapdragon powered smartphones – LG-SU2300 and LG-SU950/KU9500.

The first of the two is the same device as the LG2300 aka Aloha, which we knew is coming since the beginning of April. For some reason, the Korean company decided to use a different name for its domestic market. I assume that’s because their Korea-slated phones come with T-DMB mobile TV functionality.

The Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N8, which we’ve known about, and seen, for a few months already, is finally official. Due to hit “select markets” in Q3 of this year for 370 EUR ($495), it’s the first Symbian^3 handset from Nokia, and the first to feature a 12 megapixel camera plus 720p video shooting, but sadly at 25 fps, not 30 fps. The camera is something we’re eager to test out since Nokia say it has a “large sensor that rivals those found in compact digital cameras”. The N8 will also have built in software that allows users to edit their HD videos. Additional features, again things we’ve known about for a while now: Dolby Digital Plus, multi touch, flick scrolling, and pinch to zoom.

The big news of the last week was – Opera Mini is in the AppStore. Soon afterwards, it hit the first spot in top lists of AppStores worldwide, and then we heard Skyfire is ready to follow the example.

That made me wonder – what’s happening with other mobile web browser developers such as Mozilla (Firefox), Bitstream (BOLT) and ACCESS (NetFront)? Do they plan to release their own iPhone apps?
