Motorola working on a low-end WX series?

Motorola (NYSE: MOT) seems to be working on a new low-end series, marked “WX.” We’re talking about very basic stuff here which includes tiny screens, GSM/GPRS (maybe EDGE?) connectivity, VGA or no camera at all, optional Bluetooth, minimal or no internal storage, and so on. That said, these will most likely hit the emerging markets of the world where potential customers will be able to grab them for around $20. For the time being, we’ve heard that the WX395 model is as basic as you can get that includes nothing but GPRS data along with a mentioned small screen. As soon as we hear something new, we’ll write about it, or not – depending on the news cycle. Stay tuned, nonetheless.

Exact release date is unknown at this stage and the same goes for pricing. We’ll certainly get back to you as soon as Verizon (NYSE: VZ) or Motorola go all official about it…

T-Mobile myTouch3G – Unboxing the coolest retail package ever!

Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) might be king of the hill when it comes to designing minimalist retail packages that exude sexiness, but Apple’s iPhone box isn’t exactly useful. T-Mobile (NYSE: DT)’s myTouch3G retail box, on the other hand, is pure genius. The myTouch3G (aka HTC Magic) is a great Android phone in its own right, but for this unboxing video we’re concentrating on the awesomeness of the box.

AT&T Tilt 2 Coming October 18th?

Verizon might be getting a new Windows Mobile toy, but AT&T (NYSE: T) will have a little something to offer as well, although a little bit later: the Tilt2, better known as the HTC Touch Pro2 which has already found its way to Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. The target release date (October 18th.) is a little after the official Windows Mobile 6.5 launch, making the device just a bit more stale, but the new software and hopefully reasonable pricetag will offer enough of a pull to buyers. Nokia N86

NOKIA’S new smartphone is like an old dog with new tricks.

On the outside the Nokia N86 looks and feels very familiar, but inside it holds new features its lookalikes could not hope to match.

In short, it’s another example of why one should not judge a phone by its staid cover.

Headlining the Nokia N86’s new features is an 8-megapixel digital camera with a wide-angle lens, LED flash and plenty of extras usually seen in dedicated digital snappers.
