Cincinnati company unveils latest mobile phone application designed for pet lovers

Pet lovers can find ways to care for, comfort, and brag about their animals while on the go thanks to dozens of mobile device applications which cater to animals lovers.

Cincinnati-based Eukanuba released the latest, an iPhone application which locates a leash-free dog park anywhere in the United States. “OFF-LEASH” pinpoints the exact location of the user and then lists the five nearest dog parks, along with maps and driving directions. The application also gives users access to Eukanuba-produced videos on dog training and puppy advice, which they can watch on their phone. The dog park database is free and is updated every two to three weeks.

“Pet Notebook” is another iPhone app, which allows pet owners to store personal data on their animal, including date of birth, medication, ID tag numbers, and photos. “Pet Notebook” costs $2.99. A similar program called “Pet Phone” goes a step further, locating the veterinarian nearest you at any moment, as well as charting your pet’s weight, allergies, and vet appointments.

“All Pets Radio Player” is a 24-hour internet streaming radio station with pet news, tips, and resources. The download costs $4.99 and is iPhone compatible.  And “Pet First Aid” offers step-by-step instructions, video guides, and tips for handling any kind of emergency situation involving your pet.  The app normally costs $4.99, but is on sale for $2.99 for a limited time.

For the Blackberry user and pet owner, “Pet Tracker” has the ability to keep track of all relevant information related to your pet including its birthday, medical history, vet appointments, and medication dosages and it syncs with your phone’s built-in calendar. The app goes for a list price of $12.99.

Palm users have a similar application available for $10 called “Pets 1.3”, which lets you track medical information, grooming appointments, and feeding schedules.
